Elevator Pitch
Airdrie is a beautiful city with generous individuals and organizations. Because we attract amazing families and working professionals, Airdrie has grown faster than its resources can keep up. As a city, we need to focus on elevating Airdrie and showing residents better value for every tax dollar.
What that means:
- Airdrie has a strong sense of community, but it often is crippled by a lack of amenities, spaces and opportunities for its citizens. That means we spend time and money elsewhere – namely Calgary – instead of locally.
- Airdrie needs to attract and develop more services and businesses. As well, creating work opportunities within our city limits is critical.
- Physical and mental health supports are needed now more than ever, as wait lists in Calgary grow exponentially.
- Families and individuals pay taxes into a local system where too many projects get delayed, eliminated, or redone. As a result, mental health is affected, and boredom can even result in petty crime. We desperately need better communication between the City and its citizens around how money is being spent and honest explanations on why delays exist.
