Across our city, we’ve seen teens who want more independence, young adults who can’t afford a car, or a family that spends hours in traffic. We can keep expanding roads, but without public transit expansion, we are limiting ourselves from Airdrie’s true potential.
Right now, our city has no direct transit to Calgary’s universities or colleges, limited options for getting around inside Airdrie, and no affordable way to connect to regional opportunities.
That’s holding our families back.
I strongly believe in better transit that connects people to opportunity. It was a core plank of my 2021 campaign for council, and is a priority for me in this election.
That means:
- Expanding local, regular bus service across Airdrie’s neighbourhoods, so people can get where they need to go – without needing to have a car.
- Building direct transit links to places across the region, including the airport and CrossIron Mills/Bazac Employment district. This helps get people to their jobs, shopping, or a quick getaway without the frustrations of traffic and parking. Plus, it saves fuel and helps the environment.
- Creating reliable, affordable routes so youth can attend post-secondary while living at home here in Airdrie, saving families thousands in rent, vehicle costs, and parking.
Transit isn’t just about buses and trains. It’s about freedom for our youth, affordability for our families, and opportunity for our whole city.
