Why I’m Your Next Mayor

Why Heather Spearman is Ready to Lead Airdrie

Airdrie is at a turning point. We’ve grown from a small town to a major city almost overnight, and the challenges we face with housing, health care, education, infrastructure, and affordability require leadership that is efficient, effective, and focused. That is why I am running for Mayor.

Efficiency and Results

In just four years as a councillor, I’ve delivered results that others take twice as long to reach. My strong corporate background taught me how to prioritize what matters most, cut through distractions, and get things done. Airdrie does not need endless process and analysis for the sake of process and analysis. It needs outcomes. I’ve proven I can pick up complex files quickly, move projects across the finish line, and make progress where it counts.

Independent, Non-Partisan Leadership

Municipal politics is about people, not parties. I am accountable only to Airdrie, not to outside agendas or political ideology. Good policy is good policy, no matter which level of government delivers it, and I have shown I can collaborate with anyone if it benefits our city. That is how we, as an organization, secured nearly 25 million for housing and 50 million for infrastructure from two different governments. My focus is always on delivering wins for Airdrie families and taxpayers.

Quality Over Quantity

It is easy to list a long résumé of boards and committees. But sitting in more meetings does not mean you are more effective. The boards where I have served have been the ones where Airdrie needed results, and we got them. I focus on quality, not vanity projects, and when I take on something, I see it through to real impact.

Strength at the Table

Advocating for Airdrie means more than showing up. It means showing up prepared, asking the hard questions, and having the courage to push until we get answers. That is my strength. I have earned the respect of ministers, MLAs, and decision-makers because I know how to command a room with purpose and authority. Running a city is not easy work. It demands a leader who can think clearly, stay in control, and guide the room even when the pressure is high. Airdrie needs stability and strength at the table, not hesitation or emotion that clouds decision-making. I do not shy away from tough conversations, and I do not leave meetings without moving the ball forward for our community.

Big Vision, Grounded in Airdrie

Airdrie cannot afford small-town thinking. Our city sits next to an international airport on a busy global corridor. We need a leader who understands that our opportunities are not just provincial, they are national and international. I’ve travelled far and wide on my own dime over the years. I firmly believe that is a strength. I bring back ideas, connections, and perspectives that position Airdrie as becoming more than a bedroom community. The future of our city depends on leaders who can see beyond our borders while staying grounded in the needs of our residents.

Housing, Healthcare, and Education

Housing, health care, and education may be led by provincial governments, but their shortcomings are felt most at the municipal level. When schools are overcrowded, when families cannot find a doctor, or when affordable housing falls short, it is the City that hears the frustration first. That is why Airdrie needs a Mayor who can advocate strongly, hold other levels of government accountable, and build partnerships that deliver for residents. I have proven that I can have those conversations and secure results, without being tied to political partisanship.

Service Over Popularity

I am not here to be loved. I am here to serve and to get things done, even when it is not the popular choice. I am not in this for the title or the accolades. I am in this to bring vision to our city, to truly collaborate with the next council, and to position Airdrie to win. Being dynamic and knowing when to leverage certain resources is crucial to leading a fast-growing city, and I have proven that I possess both the adaptability and the grit it takes.

Here for Airdrie, Not for Myself

For me, this race is not about building my profile, adding to a political résumé or climbing the ladder to higher office. It is about Airdrie, and only Airdrie. I am running because I believe our city needs a leader who is rooted here, accountable here, and focused on the future of this community. Ambition may serve an individual, but it does not serve Airdrie. Our residents deserve a Mayor who is in it for the right reasons.

My Commitment to You

I am running for Mayor because I believe Airdrie deserves a leader who is efficient, effective, collaborative, and visionary. Someone who does not just take up space at the table, but makes things happen at the table. Someone who can work with anyone without being tied to partisan strings. Someone who sees where Airdrie can go and has the drive to get us there.

That is what I have done for the past four years, and that is the kind of leadership I will bring to our city as Mayor.
